"He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe,
is as good as dead;
his eyes are closed."

such an awesome experience in the woodlands last month!

It’s not just us humans being excited for spring—local wildlife and plants seem to be feeling it too!
Since early February, crocuses and hellebores have brightened up my garden, and our resident robin is singing so beautifully that it often outshines the noise from the A12!
Now that temperatures are creeping up and days are getting longer, there’s plenty of action in our sparrow's hedge, and birds are already checking out the bird boxes, looking for their perfect home for the breeding season.
Of course, nature is still balancing between winter and spring right now.
Even after the Spring Equinox on 20 March, we might get some blustery “March Winds” or those famous “April Showers.”
But whatever the weather brings, whether we’re in the class or out in the woods, we’ll keep nurturing the emerging YANG energy of Spring —the lively wood element.
We’ll use nature-inspired forms and practices to support our wellbeing as the seasons change - and of course as the weather and light improves classes will take place outside in the fresh air!
You will be very welcome to join us!
Take Care
Janet 🙏
PS. An overview of upcoming QiGong classes and Forest Bathing sessions are below - with full details and booking online.
Still in Winter: we continued working within the bounds of YIN energy & Water element; small, calm and slow to support the introspective restorative nature of the season.
Class highlights:
Introduction to Wuji Gong (one of the many forms of Primordial QiGong) - a therapeutic spiralling meditative practice that effectively brings us into present moment; releasing & clearing stress / tension to strengthen the healing power of Qi
9 Phases of Qi Cultivation - we have covered this practice in previous classes, but this time the focus wasn't so much on the movements but on the growing sensations and effects of Qi within each phase
A common comment after both practices ".... it feels so good!"
All classes include posture, breath, movement, acupressure / self-massage, flows and meditation
February's theme focused on noticing our senses as the Rain falls (a great background to meditation) and how Hazel catkins can bring about a sense of awe.
Wonders witnessed: rain rivers on tree trunks, the multitude of flowers (male) cocooned in rain bubbles and tiny red flowered buds (female).
And as always; fresh clean air, beautiful light, and the inevitable sense of peace & calm.
"Loved being in the woods - always a memorable experience." EF
