QiGong (a term introduced in 1949) describes a broad set of life-nurturing practices, developed over thousands of years, that support holistic self-care and wellbeing.
“Qigong is a jewel with many facets.” — Ken Cohen
TaiChi, as it is widely practised today, evolved from centuries-old martial arts forms and was standardised by the Chinese National Sports Commission in 1999 as a health practice rather than a combat system.
“Spiritual balance is tai chi. It sits at the centre—where yin and yang meet.
In the chakra system, it aligns with the heart chakra, Anahata.” — Frederick Lenz
These classes blend QiGong and TaiChi into a calm, meditative practice rooted in China’s ancient traditions of integrative health and self-care, influenced by Taoist and Buddhist philosophy.
In each class, you’ll learn and practise these health-supporting principles:
Breath work — simple techniques to settle the mind and support relaxation.
Gentle, nourishing movement — flowing forms that build flexibility and strength and support physical wellbeing.
Emotional balance and resilience — mindfulness and meditation to ease anxiety and encourage steadiness.
These classes are suitable for:
All experience levels (beginner to advanced)
All abilities
All ages
No prior experience in QiGong or TaiChi is needed.
Classes are kept small and welcoming, with an interactive style that makes learning supportive, enjoyable, and often light-hearted.
