Quoting Frederick Lenz

“Spiritual balance is tai chi. It sits at the centre—where yin and yang meet. In the chakra system, it aligns with the heart chakra, Anahata.”

What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi (short for Tai Chi Chuan) is known by several spellings and pronunciations, and its meaning is described in different ways.

太極

Chinese characters (Hanzi)

In this context:

Tai: the first character, often translated as “supreme”.

Chi: the second character, often translated as “ultimate”.

Together, “Tai Chi” is commonly understood as “Supreme Ultimate” the principals of which are harmonising Yin and Yang energies through mindful movement.

Tai Chi the practice

Tai Chi is thought to be between 300 and 800 years old, with several theories on the origins.

There are many styles of Tai Chi, named after the Chinese families who developed them. Two of the best-known styles are Chen (believed to be the oldest) and Yang (perhaps the most widely practice)

Tai Chi is effectively a series of choreographed fluid, graceful and focused movements, which makes it suitable for all experience levels (beginner to advanced), ages and abilities.

And there is no need for special equipment, clothing or footwear.
